Trade-union membership offers a whole range of opportunities, strengths and communities; to be seen as a citizen in society and counted as an actor on the labour market. In order to present a clear picture of the unions versatility we can divide its´ work into three areas: Working life, Economy and Activities. Economy and Activities are the means for us to reach our goals and build a strong position in working life and other related working-life issues.Everything concerning work and working conditions of the members, wage and dispute negotiations, working environment, insurance protection, matters of responsibility, when, for instance, chemical substances are to be used in work, when a work injury or an illness due to work have occurred etc. Myriad questions, all invariably of equal importance.
All activities aiming at keeping the economy together, ensuring to it that it is always well balanced, that we use our resources as carefully as possible and that they cover all our extensive activities, for which we must have the means, in order to maintain and move forward our varied tasks.
In this category we count everything we do to get the right muscles, so that we can put real pressure behind our words: studies, information, influence over of public opinion, political and other kinds of lobbying, the organization and how it should be developed and changed to correlate with our time, member service, meetings and conferences etc.
